Data Science Minor

Minor Program Requirements

Twenty-seven to twenty-eight (27-28) semester credits, including:

A. Mathematics Courses (10-11 credits):

MA 121	Differential Calculus	3
	or
MA 131	Calculus of Single Variable Functions	4
MA 141	Introduction to Mathematical Modeling	4
MA 315	Probability and Statistics	3

B. Computer Science Courses (8 credits):

CS 111	Introduction to Computer Programming	3
CS 310	Database Design	4

C. Data Courses (9 credits):

DS 201	Introduction to Data Science	3
DS 325	Advanced Statistics for Data Science WI	3
BA 309	Operations Research	3
	or
DS 401	Machine & Statistical Learning	3
	or
DS 405	Computing for Data Science	3

To earn a minor in data science, a student must earn a grade of “C-” or better in all of the courses listed.  A lesser grade in any of these courses must be replaced before the minor in data science will be granted. In addition, lesser grades in any of these courses preclude taking subsequent courses for which the deficient courses are prerequisite.
