Sociology Minor

I. Minor Program Requirements:

Students select from three concentrations for the Minor in Sociology:

• Broadfield
• Criminology
• Medical and Human Services

Sociology-Broadfield Minor

Twenty-one semester credits of sociology courses including:

SO 101	Introduction to Sociology	3
SO 200	Social Problems	3
SO 392	Modern Social Theory	3

At least six (6) of the remaining 12 credits must be upper division (300-400 level) courses.

Sociology-Criminology Minor

Twenty-one semester credits of sociology:

SO 101	Introduction to Sociology	3
SO 200	Social Problems	3
SO 262	Alcohlsm, Drug Abuse, Dependent Behavior	3
SO 309	Crime & Criminology (ND)	3
SO 312	Juvenile Deliquency/Deviant Behavior-ND	3
SO 314	Sociology of Law (GD)	3
SO 317	Ethnic & Racial Relations(ND)	3

 

Sociology-Medical and Human Services Minor

Twenty-one semester credits of sociology courses including:

SO 101	Introduction to Sociology	3
SO 200	Social Problems	3
SO 225	Sociology of Gender	3
SO 392	Modern Social Theory	3
SO 218	Intro Native Am Studies (ND)	3
	or
SO 317	Ethnic & Racial Relations(ND)	3

Plus two of the following:

AN 204	Cultural Anthropology (GD)	3
SO 208	The Family (ND)	3
AN 218	Intro Native Am Studies (ND)	3
SO 256	Gender & Work	3
SO 262	Alcohlsm, Drug Abuse, Dependent Behavior	3
SO 312	Juvenile Deliquency/Deviant Behavior-ND	3
SO 317	Ethnic & Racial Relations(ND)	3
SO 360	Environmental Sociology	3

At least nine (9) of the 21 credits must be upper division (300-400 level) courses.

To earn a minor in sociology a student must earn a grade of “C-” or better in all of the courses listed under “Minor Program Requirements.”
