The Department of Business offers Bachelor of Arts degrees with majors in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Business Administration majors may select concentrations in Economics, International Business, Management, Marketing, or Sports Management. Minors are available in Accounting, Economics, Business or Marketing, and an Associate of Arts degree is offered in Business Administration. Students may combine majors, minors and concentrations.
The Business Department's mission is consistent with Carroll College's dual goals of vocation and enlightenment and prepares students for graduate school or entry into the workforce. Framed by a strong foundation in liberal arts education, the mission of the Business Department is to provide students with the strong ethical foundation and globally informed knowledge and skills necessary for today's dynamic professional environment.
The Finance major prepares students for careers in finance, investments, financial counseling, and banking. Through the liberal arts education, students develop valuable communication and reasoning skills. The Finance major is designed and evaluated to ensure students are prepared for entry directly into the workforce or for acceptance into graduate school.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the requirements:
- Students will understand and be able to apply fundamental concepts and practices in finance.
- Students will be able to describe and apply the professional responsibilities of finance professionals.
- Students will be able to construct coherent oral and written forms of communication and present them in a professional manner.
