Internship Program
An academic internship experience can offer the benefit of career exploration and be an excellent resume builder. The academic internship program at Carroll College is an opportunity for students to apply academic knowledge and skills in a real world setting. An academic internship is a supervised work experience and forms an academic relationship between a student, faculty internship advisor, and cooperating organization.
Juniors and seniors in any major area may participate with the approval of a faculty internship advisor, a site supervisor, and Career Services. Sophomores, may, on occasion request internship credit. An exception is required by Career Services and the faculty internship advisor from the department in this case. Students are required to complete an internship proposal, through Handshake, for final approval and registration. Students will receive academic credit, and may or may not receive monetary compensation for an internship. A student may apply a maximum of 12 semester hours to degree requirements; academic departments will determine the number of credits that may count toward the major. Enrollment in the course, and credit granted, must be during the same semester in which the majority of the work experience takes place. Interested students should contact their academic advisor and Career Services prior to the start of an experience. Please see the Common Terms and Course Numbers information to clarify the appropriate course title.
