Information Technology
Campus Computing and Information Technology (CCIT) manages and supports all campus computing, technology and telecommunication systems. Technology support is offered to students, faculty, and staff during regular college office hours through the CCIT Support Center, located in St. Charles Hall. The CCIT Support Center can also be reached by calling 406-447-HELP (4357). Carroll College students, faculty and staff are provided with a network account which includes access to data storage, email, the Learning Management System (Moodle), Self-Service and a variety of software applications via the Okta portal. Wireless access (WiFi) is available campus-wide. All students, faculty and staff must follow Carroll’s Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) when using the college’s computing resources. The AUP is available in the student handbook or online at https://www.carroll.edu/ccit/policies.
Self-Service provides the ability to register, access course information and pay bills online. Students are encouraged to update their contact/emergency information through the Registrar’s Office. Inquiries concerning the information tracked within the Student Information System should be made by contacting the office responsible for the information; e.g., the Registrar for grades, transcripts, or schedules; the Admission Office for applicant data; the Business Office for account charges, etc.
Academic Computing
Carroll provides general use and classroom computer labs in several locations on campus, including in the Corette Library, and in each residence hall. All lab systems provide access to Microsoft Office and Google Apps as well as specialized software for coursework. Students are able to access lab software via virtual desktop from their personal computers as well. Classroom computer labs are generally available for use during open building hours, while residence hall labs are available 24 hours/day. Network printers are provided nearby for each lab. Classrooms are equipped with presentation technology. Digital Copyright Restrictions
It is the policy of Carroll College to respect copyright law. Materials that are distributed digitally, either on media or via download, including, but not limited to, software, music, books, movies and/or images are subject to copyright. The College will not tolerate copyright infringement that occurs on the Carroll College network.
Copyright infringement is the act of exercising, without permission or legal authority, one or more of the exclusive rights granted to the copyright owner under section 106 of the Copyright Act (Title 17 of the United States Code). These rights include the right to reproduce or distribute a copyrighted work. In the file-sharing context, downloading or uploading substantial parts of a copyrighted work without authority constitutes an infringement.
Penalties for copyright infringement include civil and criminal penalties. For details, see Title 17, United States Code, Sections 504, 505.
Willful copyright infringement can also result in criminal penalties.
