Science Education (5-12), B.A.

The Science Education (5-12) major prepares students to teach science courses at the middle and/or high school level.  The program focuses on the content of disciplines of biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science, as well as, the pedagogical skills necessary for teaching in a middle/high school classroom.

This broadfield major comprises 58 semester credits of content-area course work, with a concentration in biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science.

III. Acceptance into the Teacher Education Program and Student Teaching

Students pursuing a major in any Teacher Education Program must be accepted to the program.  See Acceptance into the Teacher Education Program for specific details.

  1. All Science Education (5-12) students must meet the following requirements: 1) earn a grade of “C-” or better in all Professional Education Requirements, Major Program Requirements, and Other Program Requirements; 2) earn a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average for Admission to the Teacher Education Program; 3) earn a minimum 2.65 grade point average in Major Program Requirements, Other Program Requirements and Professional Education Requirements for Acceptance to Student Teaching.
