2020-2021 Student Handbook

Obscene and Harassing Communication

A student who receives any electronic, phone, verbal, or social media communication of a questionable nature should follow these guidelines:

  1. Don’t talk to nuisance callers/messengers; they are looking for an audience.
  2. Hang up if the caller does not say anything, does not give an identity, or uses improper language.
  3. Report threatening communication immediately to the Office of Students and Retention, and/or call the police.
  4. Report persistent inappropriate communication to the Assistant Dean of Students/Director of Residential Life & Housing if you are an on-campus resident. New equipment and procedures, which help the college identify the calling source, have been installed for the protection of all community members. In order for the system to work, however, problem incidents must be reported to the Associate Director of Residential Life & Housing or to the Dean of Students & Retention.
