Pre-Medical Pathway

DR. GRANT HOKIT, PRE-MEDICAL ADVISOR

The Pre-Medical Pathway at Carroll College prepares students to apply to graduate programs in medicine. There is a wide variety of careers in the medical field, and the Pre-Medical Pathway provides students with experience in a broad range of disciplines to better prepare them for medical school and so they can understand and serve patients in many aspects of their lives. In addition to the pathway, Carroll offers a pre-medical club for interested students. To learn more about the Pre-Medical program at Carroll College, visit: https://www.carroll.edu/pre-professional/pre-medicine-pre-dentistry

Please note that completion of the Pre-Medical Pathway does not guarantee that all graduate/professional admission prerequisites have been met, nor does it assure admission into a medical degree program. Carroll students pursuing this pathway need to work closely with the appropriate pre-professional advisor, as well as the admission office(s) of all prospective graduate/professional programs.

In almost all cases, students enter medical or dental school after completing a four-year undergraduate program. Occasionally, highly qualified students enter after three years. A student who enters medical or dental school after three years of undergraduate study may receive the Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in biology from Carroll College under the following conditions.

  1. Successful completion of the first three (3) years of course work in the major program.
  2. Fulfillment of all Carroll College Core Curriculum requirements.
  3. Successful completion of the first two (2) years of professional school; and
  4. Application for degree and receipt by the Registrar’s Office of an official transcript from the professional school.
