SP 321 Cultivate Comp: Hisp Hlth

Cultural Diversity SP 321 is dedicated to the human and social aspects of health (the patient and their environment) and is specifically designed for students in healthcare fields. In this course we will approach different aspects of healthcare that are difficult to find in medical textbooks through Hispanic cultural production. Therefore, in this course we will study and analyze Hispanic films, poems, short stories, and art works that include in their arguments both aspects of health and human behaviors that result from medical conditions and treatments. Finally, during our conversations and practices in class we will apply medical terminology and the Hispanic cultural competence content that we studied in SP 320. This course is conducted in Spanish, and it fulfills a CORE cultural diversity requirement. SP 320 or permission of the instructor is a prerequisite for this course.
